    Is it too late?

I want to remove the bodyside molding on my 99 WS6. Will there be a noticable difference in color? The car is white.

oooo good question. I have a '99 Z and I have been wondering the same thing.

Well.. and mine had been wrecked before I got it.. so taking it off is probably a horrid idea for me. But I still wanna know..

Thats what I am talking about. I removed it on my green one but the car was only a year old. I just wonder how much of a difference there will be

I just did my 98' with over 100K about a month ago. No issues and the paint matches fine.

shouldnt have any issues. use a hairdryer to warm up the trim and slowly peel it off. or you can do the same up use fishing line over your fingers. then go back with WD-40 to clear off the rest of the gunk and then wax the area...

unless you had a re-paint of any other major issues, there should be no cause for concern. just go slow. takes about an hour to do both sides...

here is the write up i did when i removed mine...

    Question for the OP?

Did you ever take the molding off on the white car? If so how did the paint look?

thinking of pulling my molding off when it gets warmer.

got up this morning and decided to strip the molding. I'm half way done and I'd have to say it looks great.

all the wax and dirt residue since 2000 took a liitle to get off but looks good. I'll post pics once I'm done and its all cleaned up.

I did mine today as well. There was alot of dirt and grime around the moulding but once it was all cleaned up you couldn't tell it was ever on there. I found if you pull down at an angle most of the tape will come off with the moulding. Other than a huge blister on my thumb all is good. I used turtle wax liquid claybar to remove the dirt and tape residue after all the tape was off.

i did my car late last summer and the only place on my car that gave me a problem was the driver side rear quarter peice... for some reason the clear coat slightly bubbled the whole way around the molding and the clear turned yellow... at first i thought it was dirt/adheasive build up so i got the great idea to hit it with some light wax.... ended up chippin that clear of and taking my silver paint down to the primer in a small spot!!!!!!!!!!! im gonna have a ls1 decal made for that spot on both sides...

hope someone can learn from my actions
