in ny the limit used to be 35% but a few years ago they changed it to 70%. that's freaking insane. i never had a cop pull me over specifically for tints BUT when one pulled me over for talking on a cell phone while driving (my only ticket ever, knock on wood) he asked me how dark my tints were. i lied and said 35% thinking it was legal and thats when he informed me that it was recently changed to 70%. he gave me a $105 ticket for the cell phone and strongly suggested that i get my tints changed lol.

heres a tip if you know a cop is going to pull you over just roll down all the windows before he walkes up to you and prevent the whole situation, different story he that what he see first.

I thought the same thing, but I just have to remember to put them down all the way. Hopefully they don't really notice the rear window though. It's like 10% or less.

I believe the tint % here in Texas is 32% on the side and limo on the back, as far as the windshield you can have an eyebrow on it just can't pass the 2 lines that are edged in the upper corners of the windshield. I've been pulled over by as state trooper here with 32% on mine and I was legal. Usually with my car is I limo the t-tops and back window and 32 the sides with a limo on the eyebrow that way you get a darker tint without having to go illegal on the sides.
Just a fyi::http://www.tintcenter.com/laws/TX/

Greatwhite it's true. More and more states are adopting this 'hands free' rule that limits cell phone usage. I know CT, NY and NJ as well as others that have 'partial' bans. Check this link below to see what is on the books in other states.

I use to have 20% on the back and 35% on the sides, but they really weren't given me the look I wanted.
So I just recently did 15% all around a couple months ago and haven't had any issues. Had cops pull right up next to me quite a few times and look over the car and then just pull away.

Yeah, I have 5% on my car, in oklahoma. the cops here don't care that much. In fact I have never heard of someone getting a ticket for it here.
