Power window motors never last very long in any vehicle really. Just age and use takes a toll on stuff like that.
Mine was 12 years old before I replaced them (they were starting to move too slow which is a sign it's time) Frankly 12 years of continual use isn't bad for a tiny electrical motor.
But I agree, there are quite a few things on these 4th gens that were made with subpar quality in my opinion. Just about true with any car made after the 70's.

^^ But mine Dr,side went out a couple months after i bought it brand new!! But as you said yeah this latest one did last 8 years...The pass.side is going slow but not stop n go like the dr. side! I love my camaro but was dissapointed w/ some quality control!..Under warranty thank god ! Was> the dr,side window> a stop in my 2nd gear>the rear end...Oh and the dreaded piston slap i hate to this day!! But my LT`s and Magna muffle some of my nemisis!

Yeah,,too much plastic stuff on these cars to suit me.
If that other window is slowing down, it's a good time to get it replaced before it sticks.............in the rain

Arctic White- 2000 Camaro SS - Sold
Both my visors fell out of socket regularly. The last straw was when the driver side fell and caught the bill of my hat, and just about got me wrecked.

Looks good. I'm deleting mine when my car goes back together. I'll keep this in mind.

In the old days some cars used to have a keeper screw you could tighten when they got loose right in the back of the visor.
There was a lock nut with a spring behind the mount you could tighten too.
Just about everything today is a crapy snap together design..:/

Navy Blue Metallic- 98 T/A Not Stock Anymore!
My visors gave out last weekend, so I took them in to get redone. I can't live without them or sunglasses.

Wow, I can't believe the amount of people that actually take these things out and do away with them.
I need sunglasses and my visors, almost a requirement out here anyway.

In my case my visors are so bad I could no longer stand to look at them and YES I used them on occasion but I only drive my car like 10 times a years so now I can still use my car while I take my time and have the visors recovered. Then either sell off these plugs or the recovered visors, which ever I decide I like better at that time.
And FWIW, this exact topic is also ongoing on the other LS1 forum in the vert section too so I would say YES, a lot of people are doing this mod for one reason or another.Last edited by 99'CajunFirehawk157; 10-23-2012 at 06:49 AM.

Wow, for as easy as they are to fix, I'm surprised so many opt to just remove them. I'd be hard pressed to buy another 4th gen if it were missing sun visors. Just seems odd to me.
I'll have to keep an eye out at the next 4th gen gathering just to see how many are missing. The thought has just never crossed my mind.

My sunvisors were perfectly fine and still are perfectly fine, I just got rid of them cause I never used them, I like the cleaner look, and they always felt awkward when I took the tops off. My wife used it more than me when she's in the car

Black/Black- 98 WS6 Vert/04 Z71 Tahoe
I thought about removing mine because they were sagging and discolored. Took them to a friends auto upholstery shop and he fixed them for me. They look brand new now and he didn't even charge me

Again, Yeah i want/need my sunvisors...In Ca, and Az..its sunny almost year round so UH..theres alot of sun and glare and it can be dangerous to get that flash of light hittin you in the eyes! But its also a to each his own thing, Mine also did the saggin thing first then was so bad it went all funny and bonked me in the head while i made a sharp turn and like a big dummy i lost my temper and yanked it the rest of the way off! That was smart..
But ill eventually get one off a donor ( i have black interior) there should be some at the junkers or go whole hog and get one at dealership or gm parts or whatever?

For me sunvisors are useless
they don't block the sun no matter what. I wear sunglasses or just deal with it. But I don't live on the surface of the sun either like some other people here.
