SS, WS^, and Firehawk Hoods

I didn't know here to post this silly question. I figured since it was about hoods appearance was a good place.

I have not been up close to a 4th Gen F-Body SS, WS6, or Firehawk. I have always been curious about the hoods. Are the factory hoods metal or fiber glass?

I know my z28 is all metal,

Fiberglass.

Its not fiberglass, its a composet meterial when I find the link I'll post it. Its closer to FG then metal tho

There are different types of so called fiberglass hoods of which all are made different. The original SLP hoods use a process called Sheet Molded Compound or SMC. SMC hoods are more durable than your traditional polyresin fiberglass hoods but a bit heavier.

thanks all. I posted my question and then checked out big time. I think I was alien probed in deep space.

I take it the hoods are a similar material as the fenders and door skins then.
