Screwed...
Car was keyed and insurance claim was filed. Insurance company says keying doesnt match the profile of a random act and are refusing to pay for dmamges. Had damage appraised and will cost about 4000... What the hell can i do to fix this? are there any shops that have payment plans? fml...

first thing is to keep hammering the insurance company....go up the chain. Next step is to drop their ass if they don't pay. How deep is the damage? All the way to metal? Have you been to any shops? $4k sounds pretty expensive for just a keying.

I just watched a video last night on repairing a Mercedes G55 that had been keyed across all three panels on the passenger side. Interesting technique.

That is nice of them to not do what they are supposed to do and cover damages after all that is what you are paying them for. Based on what you said it sounds like they are insinuating that you did it. My comment to them would be that they must realize not all keying is random and how do they know it wasn't random. What insurance do you have out of curiosity?

pretty sure that should be covered under comprehensive but with the way insurance companies are who knows.....they're slimey weasel bastards. They want to collect premiums and then never pay.

You need to start with by getting a copy of your policy and checking coverages. The insurance company will deny you because the damage happened on a cloudy Tuesday in the sixth month of the year -- it's called a bullshit denial because they know that most people won't hire an attorney, or will simply accept their explanation for the denial. So long as it is a covered loss under your policy (and I don't care if it was intentional, accidental or whatever - they can go after the person who did it to get their money back) they owe you, less any applicable deductible. Have any friends out there in the legal business? One letter is all it would take for them to change their tune so long as it is a covered loss.

what company? USAA, Geico, Progressive?
Geico/Progressive I can believe they would pull that shit. Not USAA. I've never had a bad experience with USAA. Geico...those bastards can rot in hell. Progressive I've heard they are like Geico and try to weasel out of everything. That I can't stand Flo commercials.

I have NEVER heard of a vandalism claim denial. is that crap? And $4k for a respray? I would do what Jeff suggested and go over your policy. If there is nothing stating vandalism isn't covered, either raise hell or go with another company.

^^ Raising hell being the preferred alternative. Too bad you don't live in PA... we'd take care of this in a hurry.

Sorry I'm stuck in Germany, and wifi is at a premium. But yeah it's usaa and they have been really crappy lately. I've been a loyal customer of theirs since I enlisted and this is how they treat me when I finally call on them for help.

Are you station in Germany or just on a "visit"? It may be why USAA is not wanting to pay.

how long? You might have to wait till you get home to deal with them. This totally surprises me that USAA is being so difficult.
