    Ram Air Hood vents

    Hey Guys,

I did my best to try and research this question myself and could not find the answer, hopefully someone can set me in the right direction. If a thread like this already exists, I apologize for my poor searching abilities.

I am repainting my front bumper cover on my 01 WS6. Someone nicely backed into her and left some damage. There are some stone chips on my hood, So I figured If I can, I might as well go ahead with that as well. I would like to remove the ram air hood vents to do a proper job, but wanted to know if it is possible and if so, how? Thanks in advance guys.

We like questions so no apologies necessary!

I removed mine for a front end paint job a few years ago. As I recall, there are simply two screws and out they come.

    Thanks for the reply PAJEFF02!

I am actually wondering about the outer housing to those screens. Or is that just part of the rest of the hood? I am just worried about not getting a perfect paint job in because of the small gap in the screen housing and the hood. BTW, looks like your hood came out pretty awesome, do you do your own paint?

If you are talking about the seam around the perimeter of the inlet, that is molded in as far as I know. I just removed the grilles, masked the openings and had no problems. My brother-in-law has a body shop and does nice work, so I can't take credit for anything other than the disassembly and sanding.
