It was a carbon fiber MIT lid.... I sanded it down, primered it, put on a coat of white paint, let it dry, put on the decal, and then clearcoated over it.....

That's my car, undergoing some revisions this winter.
Along with the smoothed Blackwing airlid, front bumper insert cover over the water jug, !wire-mod, Line-Lock, !BMR/now Hotchkis STB, all new brakes, etc., etc., ...

Some people prefer to show off the engine & not cover it.
I do like that look too, with nice valve covers, & relocated coils, etc.

I bought that real carbon fiber cover meant for the Corvette application off Ebay a couple years ago.
Cut it to fit like my FRC's, then had it painted about a month ago.
Those covers are still available to the Corvette world, but they are costly around $275-300+. I paid $65 shipped, ...

Google 1-piece Corvette engine cover & you may find some. There are a couple different units available.
    Edit:

The cover I have, looked like this when it started. But the back side was cut to fit, & drilled for the dipstick.

That's a sweet ride, and thanks for the links. I didnt even know they made engine covers like that for the LS1's. Sorry about hi-jacking the link to get info on the covers, but they are bad ass.

Afterthoughtsauto.com sells the fuel rail covers. Not the one piece wrap around ones though. Those were the first I've seen of those.

Looks good Dave, but have you ever thought about painting the airlid base to match?
That would really make it all blend together nicely!
