POLL: Cracked Door Panels
After a recent thread on the above subject, just how many are out there with this problem?? If you feel like leaving a comment, could you advise whether you live in a warm or cold climate, or if the F-body is garage-kept. Looking for a common denominator if any.

I have one large crack on the divers side. I'm in the frozen tundra state if that tells you anything. Sometimes I'm garaged and sometimes not.

Had the drivers side crack couple years ago, ..., Bought a replacement panel on eBay right away. So far it's been okay since.
But it'll be back.
There's those of you who have had the crack, ..., & then there's those that will have the crack. There's no gaurantee it'll never happen, ..., sux, ...
They say that if you remove one of the staples on the back side in that area, that it will reduce the chances of it happening.
Nebraska, garage kept, Rarely have the windows down. Typically cruisin' with the A/C on, ...
You can see the door panel stress when you put the window down all the way.
Don't know if it really has anything to do with it or not tho, ...Last edited by PontiacFan; 04-04-2006 at 05:52 AM.

It is because of when the window flexes out the door panels.. They will always be like that there is really nothing you can do about it.. If it isnt cracked yet and you never roll down your windows all the way then you may be alright.

kidding, I love the looks of a T/A as much as anybody, we don't get the cracks though so you should specify 'birds or you'll have camaro guys in here messing up your poll with "no cracks" votes

Are the Camaro door skins different, or is the whole door/window setup different?

I had the camaro door panels in and no cracks for three years. After that I switch to the T/A door panels, also no cracks. Going strong for three more years. I constantly use my power windows. So I dunno how these panels are cracking on your cars. Maybe it's just a T/A door defect.

Cracked door panel
Yes, its has happened to me, just have not ventured to getting a new one just yet, but I am soon, bugs the hell outta me. I live in Fla. its been stored and covered and now garaged. I read in a thread somewhere that it is known to happen, all in time.

I've thought about replacing my door skins, too...but I don't wanna drop the cash on new skins just to have them crack on me, too.

Black- Camaro SS 2001
I have a Camaro SS 2001. Passenger door has the crack but since it is a black car, it is not very apparent. It was there when I bought the car new but I decided not to do anything since dealers are so stupid that they could have messed up a lot more while trying to repair it.
Until now, I didn't know it was a common problem. Also, it seems that Camaro owners can have this problem too !!

I thought it was basically a Firebird problem too. Thanks!
So far the poll results are indicating that approximately 2/3 of F-bodies have the problem. No common factors apparently other than a GM defect.
