painting intake & rails...
i don't know what color to paint my intake/rails. i've seen black and pewter on here, both look awesome and i'll probably do black, but i want to see other's intakes. someone suggested glossy black with red rails but i don't know how much the rails will stick out. i want it to look pretty clean.
with the intake, did anyone sand it first or opt to use plastic primer first before sanding?

Arctic White & Black- '98 WS6 M6 - SWAPTIME!
i'm doing my build on a "budget" ... but i got a brand new LS6, never used with fuel rails, injectors (that i don't need) and a throttle body (which i can't tell if it's bigger than my stock LS1 or not) ... so i opted to paint it so it looks nicer and cleaner i WISH i could get a FAST but it didn't mesh well with my $$ ... someday!

Are those stock injectors?
From what I remember:
1. Sand down intake really well. You can use a sanding block found at any parts store. Your LS6 will have 3 circular indentations at the top, sand it down enough so you can't see those anymore. IT TAKES A LOT OF WORK.
2. I used some high filler primer and i think some more primer over that.
3. I used some regular duplicolor paint.
4. I used clear coat on top of that, but you don't necessarily have to.
It turned out, absolutely amazing and if you search for my threads i think i have a writeup on this, I definitely posted pictures...so check it out if you want.

I have seen a white intake that matched the exterior paint Tep, it looked killer. Whatever you do, have an overall mental picture in mind of how you want the engine bay to look and tie it all together. Stick to your plan. Don't just paint it now and then later on realize it won't fit your overall plans and have to do it over. Something else I want to ask, do you ever plan to get fuel rail covers?
