Painted Calipers... what do you guys think?
I just finished putting the second coat of paint on my brake calipers. I bought the kit for $15 at autozone and I think it was not bad for what you pay. I am gonna put one more coat on once I finish this post.
Lemme know what you guys think!

that looks okay but did you sand them down first? I did and look at the smooth finish I got!

Looks pretty good!!! How long for all for? I've screwed around with mine (not as nice) and spent too much time.

Looks good, but while you're at it why not unbolt the caliper brackets and paint them as well? Notice how in 01JameSS's pic they are nice and black?

I like how mine came out . I cleaned, sanded, cleaned some more, painted, applied stickers, cleared, and polished. I also used the paint that came from Autozone.
Pics...

It took me about 5 hours from when I pulled the car in to the garage to when I pulled it back out, and a lot of that was fighting with the room to jack the car up. It only takes 1 hour to paint them, at least thats all the time the kit allows so I did 2 quick coats then waited 30 minutes then one last coat then waited 45 mins and let car down.
I am going to do the brackets in black as well once I find some time cuz they are really dirty/rusty.
Ill post some pics of them done with the wheels on, though they already got dirty from the rain here...
Thanks for the input guys!
Thanks
-Scott

I bought the dupli color kit for mine from wal-mart. The looked good untill i acidentially got some brake cleaner on them when i was changing my front rotor's. But when i do it over i am going ot do them like 01james. Is the stuff from autozone in a spray can ? The stuff i used came in a little can and i think it is oil based.

I sanded mine down as well, but instead of painting them I just finished them off with some polish:
and then did the rest one day when I was bored:

Yes, especially with my ZO6s.
No, only rarely can you see the red Idler Arm. No light under there to make it stand out.
About 10 hours total including drying time. Polishing is the simple part. Belt sanded with 220 grit, then 400. Then hand sanded with 800 and then wet sanded with some 1000. Then finished it with some aluminum polish on a drill buff at first, then by hand for all the small areas.

Damn those polished calipers look sweet as hell. If I didn't drive mine everyday or on aregular basis I would've done mine like that. I opted to paint mine red on the white car. Really compliments the car.

Mines driven 45 miles round trip to work 5 days a week. Looks great without any extra polishing for 2+ years. Only thing I've had to do is clean and respray the brackets red. They are the only part that showed any wear.

i was gonna paint mine but everyone keeps telling me they look like shit after a couple month and you have to constantly keep up on them.... let alone if they get touched with brakeclean they need to be redone.

Why would you use brake cleaner on painted brakes? Just soap and water, thats it.
