Paint problems, how to fix clear coat?

Anyone else had their clear coat "penetrated" by heavy rain? We had a pretty serious storm here a little while back and the clear coat was damaged in two spots on the trunk lid of my car. It looks like two bubbles popped on the hood, with some of the clear coat peeling up around the edges of the damage. In the center, the clear coat is completely gone (almost like a bullet hole through the paint).

My car is in the shop at the moment, so I can't take pics.

Is there anything recommended for a DIY fix, or will this require a repaint?

I found a pic of an example of the type of damage I'm talking about through google... am I allowed to post a link to the pic? Or is the restriction only for links to vendors?

Anyway, good ideas to fix it?

Subscribed. Go ahead and link the Google pic. As long as you are not linking to a non-sponsor, or another F-body, LS1, etc. site it's all good.

Okay, this computer is set up differently so when I click the link, it takes me directly to AutoGeek (a car detailing forum). Here is the link:

The thread itself has some input which seems to be worth a look. I've been reading up on it elsewhere, but any input from this group is greatly appreciated.

You can try a spot fix by sanding through the clear and feathering it into the surrounding clear and then shooting it. Just have to be darn careful you don't go through the color coat. Once coated, sand and buff to finish the blending process and to remove overspray at the edges.
