my engine bay idea
so i have this crazy idea where i want to an engine cover (the one that covers the intake manifold as well as the valve covers and fuel rails) and then somehow have it sanded down and painted, then have a firebird logo put on there...my question is with these plastics is
1. it really possible to sand them?
2. also, anyone know a good place to find these?
thanks!

You can sand them and smooth them with body filler and paint them. You would have to look on e-bay or maybe a junk yard at one of the GTO's. I'm sure that you can make it work and look good with time.

you can get the cts-v engine cover... it covers fuel rail, intake, and valve covers. It looks really good by itself (not to mention made for the same motor, with few small modifications of course). You could sand and paint it, and the firebird logo could fit in the center (on the intake) and you could put Trans Am over the valve covers... would be freakin awesome! Just my idea, take what you can out of it....

is that the cover you're talking about? i remember a few years ago seeing a carbon fiber cover that covered the entire top of the engine. it cost a lot but it covered everything it was huge.. that would look good maybe if you can find where/if they still make them.
and yes anything's possible to make it fit, fill it in, etcBrandon
