    LED Daytime Running Lights???

Has anyone found LED Replacement DRLs that work well? I have a 2001 Camaro SS looking to replace the DRL/Turn signals/Parking lamps with LEDs. I have had too many problems with the regular bulbs over heating and melting the sockets. Not sure if this is the way to go but I'm curious if anybody has had luck doing this.

IIRC most use switchbacks. Not sure if you need something between them and the wire harness. Some come with it as part of the bulb.

Switchbacks are an absolute nightmare...highly recommend staying away from those.

tons of people have tried it over the years and I've only see a hand full of them work the right way. I have personally look at doing it a few times and it just doesnt seem like something I want to try lol. Easiest thing for our cars that I've seen is to swap the flasher out and then use some basic LED's and even then people still run into some misc issues from time to time. Our system just doesnt play nice with LED's in the turn signals for some reason.

I tried 3 brands of LED bulbs and at the end of the day they will just not hold up. I believe most of the LED bulbs out there can't handle staying on constant at full power. I went back to stock bulbs. One thing I was trying to do was to maybe take off the whole and a LED panel that can be attached with a bracket. I never got to do it before i sold the car.

hmm not me lol. I have seen amber panels of LED light for trucks. Im sure if you fabricate a bracket to hold it in place were the turn signal housing goes it should look nice. Of course the housing will be removed. You will not need the perfect size LED.

What about using a lower wattage bulb?

I've had the Autolumination Switchbacks for >4.5 years. I've had no issues once I got them set like I wanted. I bought brand new housings. I use the old keepitcleanwiring.com nonadjustable flashers. I also insure that I have the parking brake on when I start the car. That keeps the LEDs off while starting.

I just got the LED bulbs from DDM today. Supposedly they are just plug and play, but it does say a resistor may be needed. If it wasn't raining here I would put them in and let you know. So, after I put them in I will update

They aren't going to be just plug and play if you're running a stock flasher. But yes, you will need resistors at some point in the install.
