    Hood painting... need some ideas

WEll since i did a nice job on my rims, I decided I would paint my hood. But first as always is the prepping. Cleaning sanding cleaning.... ug. But at least its a flater surface so it will be easier to do, just alittle more attention to detail because its a large flat surface.
I need to fix the fiberglass anyway so i gotta sand it down anyway and fiberglass patch it, then primer, and colors, and then clear. Im doing it right this time instead of halfassin it lol LAst time i just wanted to cover up the white it came when i first ordered it in 08. Now i want to do it right. the underside is stilll white lol.
SO now its time to paint it right.

Ok here what it looks like

So now what should I do?
1- Red (matched to the rest of the car)
    2- Black (gloss or satin)
3- Red with black hood bulges
4- Black with Red hood bulges
    5- Other options?

SO far the color scheme is Red with black
    The Car is red.
The rims will be black with the polished lips and a red bird decal
Will be doing CETA mod on the bumper
Also thought of doing the CETA mod in Black carbon fiber and the hood bulges black Carbonfiber but not sure.

    Navy Blue Metallic
    98 T/A w/a little mods...

    I would Murder it out.

Black wheels, black hood with the red bumps, shade the signals, black out the mirrors, and due the ceta black out mod on the back side, for the lettering black it out too. Along with a nice dark window tint.

wow your in Germany, how long till you get back? I miss my time over there. Damn, just realized its been 15 yrs.....

I think that looks so ugly! I hate it when people paint their spoilers and lights black, but that's just me

    I would do just red

I seen that before, i forgot all about that one. It has a name, but i forgot it. I like the hood like that.

I agree that black spoiler and headlight lids and sailpanel is a bit much. I want accents, not whole body panels.

I like this paint job. I won't do the front bumper triangle but the rest looks nice.

now that ive found a paint match, im gonna ge tthe prep work under way. Im using dupli color red. Im gonna have the hood bulges black, and the rest of the hood red. Im gonna do gloss all around. Color paint first will be red. Not sure if i want to do the bulges in vinyl wrap or actual paint but for now, red will be on there. got my fiberglass repair kit and whatnot alreay, now just to have time to do the deed.

well the stripping and sanding has started. Ive sanded the hood all around then started fiberglass patching. kinda scary but also satisfying that im getting around to it finally. Scuffing up the paint had me nervous as hell. Rims are one thing, a hood is totally different. So far my prep work is doing well. IM gonna hopfully try and get it primered tomorrow.

WEll, ive stripped/sanded the hood, fiberglass repaired where needed, bondo'ed, sanded again lol, wet sanded, and now have a few spots to bondo tomorrow and then sand one more time and then might be ready for primer and then wet sanding.

Hoppefully i can primer it and wet sand it tomorrow and get it nice and "smoothe". Im actually pretty happy with myself with my bondo job. I even shaped some parts of the hood to look better.

With all the prep you've put in, the hood is going to look awesome when it's done. That brings up another issue though. You're eventually going to want to repaint the rest of the car to match the smooth as glass finish on the hood.

Well finished sanding and feathering today. CLeaned it up and primered it.

Sanded and primered bothsides. Got some touch ups to do that i couldnt see when the hood was 4 different coloers lol but very tiny things. GOt some wetsanding to do. then the hard part of settling for a color. still having thoughts of flatblack but i can always clear it. Its gonna be BLack with red hood strips by the way. Id like gloss black, but not sure still.

Gloss black or flat black with red hood stripes?
