Better yet, remove the old location; (fill an paint) then mount two small ones in each of the fender area locations.
    1. where the CD changer would be.
    2. where the spare is located.
Out of the way, unseen and having a twin setup, you'll get real nice reception anywhere.

This is what I would do/need to do.

Do they make an adapter that "y"s them together?

I like the take it off and fill the hole idea. Are you sure the reception is equal with running 2 where u said

Just cut down the factory fixed antenna to a shorter length, and then smooth and repaint the end of it.

    98 T/A w/a little mods...

I'm interested because my motor died while it is still up. If I try to push it down it kills the radio and can't listen. I too mostly listen to Ipod or Sat Radio (OCTANE).

I did get an antenna from a 98 FB but it doesn't drop. Not sure if I want to put it on.

Can't believe they want $120 for a replacement.

I know it's already been said but I got an 8" black antenna and I think it looks a lot better than the sky scraper that it came with.

I can get a picture if you're even still looking into this.

Google stubby antenna. It's not one of those thick rubber ones either.

Will post a picture as soon as I find a light. Would have taken one earlier but I wasn't sure if you were looking for a completely shaved antenna or a short one.

Sorry, flaked out on the pic, but here is mine. Had to do some fabricating. But it works, reception is the same. The flag pole antenna broke in the up position, and then the car wash bent it, it looked horrendous. This looks so much better.
