Has anyone buffed their tail lights???

My tail lights on my T/A are hazy from washing and such and I would like to clean them up. I have heard you can wet sand them and buff them out nicely and was wondering if anyone has done this and what precautions I should take. What grits to start with and so on. I was thinking like 600-1000-1500-2000 then buff??? Don't wanna f-up the things and have to buy another set

i wouldnt start with 600 . . . id start with 2000 or 1500, then buff to shine to see if all the imperfections were removed. . . how bad are your taillights? if they are just hazy it shouldnt take much to restore the shine.

Good point. I can always go coarser if needed. Yeah, just hazed up, no deep scratches as far as I know.

i would just try some mothers metal polish or zymol cleaner wax first, before resortin to wet sanding.

Like Mothers wheel cleaner??? I know I have some of that laying around. I could just hit it with medium buffing compound too. I might try and mess around with it this weekend.

well not cleaner but wheel polish. . it works well on plastic

Yeah, I have polish. Didn't know that worked on plastic though....good to know.

I've waxed them before and it works great, they turn nice and black, I've also heard of this product called true black....I think mothers makes it....not to sure a buddy of mine was talking about it but waxing works the best for me so far, and use the paste the liqued shit sucks
