GTO spoiler benefits
Im replacing the oem trunk with one from carbon creations. Even though i like the look of the oem wing, i dont know if it actually provides any real function. (Ie down force for drag racing) if it doesnt provide any benefit i would really like to avoid drilling through the pretty carbon fiber. Im sure know one has any real data on this but any input would be helpfull to my consideration.

Honestly it's for looks more then function, just like on the Trans Am. I read you'd have to be over speeds of 100 constantly for both to provide any benefit.
Post a pic I'd like to see how different it is over stock.

IMHO no....not unless you're driving course racing where you'll see constant speeds in triple digits.

That makes sense. Have you ever seen anyone else running carbon fiber anywhere else on their vehicle. The only reason i went with one is because it was cheaper than an oem replacement.

Yes I have. As long as you don't have a God awful huge wing (Fast & Furious) and it looks good nothing wrong with getting one.
What's wrong with the OEM one?

Agreed..
They look godawful with the spoiler missing!

GTO spoiler benefits
When I used to post on the GTO forums years ago, I found a group purchase thread for the carbon fiber spoiler I currently have. Look up Maverick Man carbon. Check out our sponsors and eBay for the RKSport three-piece spoiler based off the aussie HSV spoiler. There was also a lip spoiler from DMS, but I think that company closed. Sarona made a nice ducktail based off the GTO Ram Air 6, but I don't know if thatsw still available. If you want a true Aussie spoiler, look into JHP, but that's more money.
extreme dimensions, driveshaft shop, harrop, hid(35watt/6k) lows, hurst, k&n, led fogs, maverick man, mishimoto, nitto, revshift, slp, stern st-1, smoked sidemarkers, whiteline poly radius rod bushings

There is an icon in both the quick reply box and advance box that when you place the arrow over it says Insert Image, click on it and a window pops up, next click on from url tab in the pop up. Copy the url from photobucket and past it in the URL line, uncheck the retrieve....box and click ok. It will post.

Ok that makes since. Need to get photobucket.
Anyway. I had issues re installing the trunk latch during the install. I don't keep anything in the trunk because this car is only a weekend/track car now. I've also ran the car at high speeds without anything bad happening. Any real reason to buy a new 170 dollar latch?

I'd look for one on ebay or junk yard first.
Is it a key issue or the latch itself?

Latch itself. There is not key entry for the trunk on the gto for whatever reason. I'll check junkyards, but these cars are few and far between.
