    Finally been repainted

After waiting (and saving) for three years, I finally got the Z28 painted. The exterior is now of an SS (I added an SS spoiler in addition to the hood), but I am keeping it with Z28 emblems. Also added a billet grille. My paint man did a bang up job and a lot of car enthusiasts at our "mini-show" complemented his work (especially for the price). Also added a new set of Kumho's. I'm very pleased with the car.

He had to strip it down due to the clearcoat peeling off. Primed, base, and clear. He took the bumpers off, fixed a couple of small door dings/stress dimple, installed a new SS spoiler and a billet grille. Painted the metal strip between the t-tops and used rubberized paint to spruce up the metal areas of the t-tops.

Now this is a SALVAGED car that was "totalled" in 2000. The SS hood does not fit exactly, but it's not bad enough to want to replace it (not that a replacement would fit any better). The SS spoiler is slightly higher where it bolts to the hatch, but once again, it's not worth trying to do anything else with it.

Somebody mentioned lining up panels, but I assure you they are as good as they can be. He did an awesome job with a very slick paint job and he did all of this with first-quality materials for:

    $1800.00

He was doing me a HUGE favor and I realize the bargain I got.

Ha! Why give away a sleeper? My eyes are on what engine is next. LS6, LS3, or (leading candidate) a stroker kit for a 408.

Good looking car. Knowing what is involved in JUST a simple paint job, he did give you a hell of a deal. It sounds, from what you've told, that he does it the correct way and actually doing his job. Its a LOT of work and man-hours just to simply paint a car, let alone pull panels and align and do all that shit. Plus the cost of materials has gone up considerably. Paint alone when I did my 'bird in the candy orange was over 600$. My dad shot the paint. 11 hours straight, never left the garage long enough to do anything other than let it dry between coats, which isn't much time at all.

I like the frontend pic as well. Now, submit it for COTM

i got a similar quote to just get the rear quarter panels, rear hatch, and rear bumper repainted. Some a--hole had fun with a key and I've got some spots where other people hit me w/ car doors and grocery carts. we're only looking at it from photos but it looks like he did a stand up job, I'm glad you're happy with it cause i would be too

I've considered that, and I actually bought the chrome lay-overs for the Z28 badging, but I'm just not sure about which way to go with that so we just put the standard badges back on (had to buy a new rear one, $34!!!)

I'm leaning towards finding a nice 101st Airborne "Screaming Eagle" to install in the middle of the grille. I used to have a 101st tag on the front and I sort of miss it, but I don't want anything as big as a tag. Still trying to find something.

Jaison! Start giving me ideas, dude.
