Exhaust Tips

I am trying to hook up a pair of tips like the SS center mount tips, but I am going to use square tips not like the oval tips on the SS to be different. The problem is the SS ground effect kit has the space for the tips already as compared to the Z-28 ground effect kit in the back. What I plan to do is bring it to a shop so they can cut in the back maybe above or below the ground effects so I can place the square tips flush and make it look like the center mount exhaust on the SS. Does anyone know if it is possibe to cut through the material or would it be easier to install an SS bumper in the rear? Thanks.

I saw an SS with 4 round tips in the center, looked pretty good and sure was different.
