    Engine Paint Decision

I was thinking about painting my valve covers this coming weekend. But since my car is green I do not have much of a choice. I guess I will paint them silver and clear them. I did find a nice color green thats pearl from walmart but i was thinking of doing the intake and lid in that color. Of course I will do it after I get my ls6 intake. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. What type of paint do you suggest to paint the valve covers with clear that can stand up to the heat?

I found some metalcast by duplicolor that is green that looks nice. Its good for up to 500 degrees. Im probably going to go with that, did you replace your gaskets or are they good to seel back up? No one seems to carry them when I checked around.

For powdercoating, you have to pull everything off, so I just replaced mine. GMpartsdirect is by far the cheapest on them, even with the ridiculous S&H. For painting, I wouldn't pull them out, I would just masking tape them off and not replace them.

Thats EXACTLY what I was going to suggest. I swear by the Duplicolor high temp paints. I LOVE them. Applies easy and really does stand up to the heat. Is it one of their "ceramic" paints? Thats what I used on my valve covers and intake. Gaskets are reusable just make sure they're centered when you torque them back down.

I went with duplicolor 1200* paint. I didnt do a metal cast, just the plain red.
