copycat before and after exhaust polishing

seeing as i haven't cleaned the underside of the car in quite some time, and after seeing y2kpewterss polishing, i was bored at work today and went at it. i'm one of those if you can see it types. if you can't see it, then i won't go overboard on that part of it. i like a clean car, just not show quality kinda guy. just enough to get noticed.

before cleaning the underside with some purple power and hosing it down.

after hosing it down and scrubbing the pipes and muffler with a scotchpad.

after sanding it down with an air sander with 320, 400 and 600. then buffing it with the air grinder and buffingwheel and a liquid polish.

still have much more to do
Cold Air Intake, Muffler Delete, Vinci High Performance Dual Valve Springs, Hardened Pushrods, Yella Terra 1.85 Rockers, Some Hydropdipped Stuff, Strut Tower Brace, Some SS Badges, boost/vacuum gauge, fuel pressure gauge, some checkered stripes, drilled/slotted rotors, ZL1addons Stealth wickerbill, Ruxifey LED side markers

    HUGE improvement!

What liquid polish did you use, and what is your exhaust setup?

i have to get the name off of the bottle for you tomorrow, but it works pretty good for final clean up and maintenance. i need to do more on the muffler itself.

Man, its time for my eye exam again, I see the Bassani on the muffler now me---><---me

Hate to get off topic here, but what do you think of the Bassani, I have heard mixed opinions on it.

Very lucky to be self employed and be able to work on your own car during slow times, very envious of you

Hmm, I thought this thread would be a lil advertisement.

I am still on the fence with the exhaust myself.

i love it. used to have borla on the wife's car. got too loud and had too much interior drone. so, i put it on her car and reduced the interior noise alot. took the high pitch out of it and left the deep tones. and, it didn't hurt when i picked up 15 rwhp over the borla 3" adjustable catback with no tuning. better sound, more power. win, win. mixed opinions are the price, the rear croospipe and how they route one pipe around the panhard rod as you can see in the pics. only one person that i'm aware of had fitment issues. he's on this board as well. i think his name is bene on here.

well, there are names in the pics. both are non-sponsors (you don't see the name of the other). one, that i do side work with. kind of a product tester for them when they need someone willing to beat on their car. like the bassani track and dyno testing when it first came out. i was the first to have it outside of bassani's shop. the mikronite gear testing is another one. the vinci tuner was another one. the wife's car was a huge test of their products. each part was individually tested. her webpage is http://www.stealthram.com/1999pontiacformula.html

What kind of Krylon paint did you use??

I used Krylon Rust Tough Enamel on my rear axle/differential, and it came out great with minimal prep work. I just cleaned it with some Simple Green and sprayed it up, and its been good for months, even after getting gear oil/grease all over it while changing the fluid.

I like the Bassani TD system, but IMO, I think the pipes right before the axle could be tucked up a little more.

    Agreed.

I think your prototype exhaust that you fabbed up is better than any other dual exhaust setup that I've seen on a 4th gen.

Love the work! Keep it up! I'll get some photos of mine once I do a little bit of touch up. For the most part it's clean and polished, but I'd like to go at it a bit more. I use Mothers Aluminum polish.

i didn't fab it, bassani did. i was the first outside of bassani to trial fit and dyno and race test it. i would love to take credit for it, but i can't.
