Conversion to true HID foglight/daytime lights
Vehicle: 1998 Camaro z28
I wanna replace the stock "yellow" fog lights with an HID conversion kit (8000k or 10000k). The set I have for my low-beams work great! I would like the "fog lights" to match in color as well as light output.
Anyone tried this?

And yes, I lowered the angle of the headlights a bit as to not blind other drivers. And you can tell the lighting difference of the fog lights that I would like to correct.

Where did you get the kit from and how much? Must have on my 98Z28.

I'm not sure if the seller is a sponser here, but...
I purchased the kit on eBay; Autovizion 10,000K HID Xenon kit, for about $220.
Price wasn't too bad, since I get a whole lot better light than stock, it was a simple 30 minute install, and 1 year full replacement warranty. Personally, I think they're great. And again, I've angled the lights down just a bit to keep from totally blinding other drivers. Still don't see how they can equip those 12' tall SUVs with HIDs, with their headlights angled smack dab right into your rear view mirror. Now, if I can just figure out how to get similar lighting for my fog lights/driving lights. Anyway, I stuck with my aftermarket hi-beam bulbs; they function just fine for me, and don't give off-yellow light.

Also does this just plug into the light housing? Or do you have to modify it? And are you using this as a high beam or low beam?

Installation is really simple. Just be careful when connecting the silver (+) and (-) leads to the plastic connector. If you connect them backwards, they are a b*tch to disconnect.

ok...so what about the HID foglights? the headlights look a LOT brighter than the foglights do.

So far, the only thing I've found that comes close to HID fog lights, are the PIAA 1100X driving lights. However, the (correct) install seems to be extremely intensive. I don't mind fabricating a set of brackets, but I figured that I could just splice into the wiring of the stock fog lights, but apparently there's the issue of trying to use the PIAAs with the stock fog light switch, which I would want to do. So, I'm going with a set of 8500K hyper white bulbs, which are a bit on the blue side. Not as bright as PIAAs or HIDs, but definately are brighter than the stock fog light bulbs.

so maybe if i went with the 5000k or 8000k headlights and the 8500k hyper foglight bulbs it would be a better match...
