    Carbon Fiber Hood?

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/98-02...spagenameZWDVW

It would require no paint, so the price is right where I like it. How do you think it looks though? I already have a functional ws6 hood...but damn, carbon fiber?

Please keep in mind that I'm biased... but I think it's awesome. Personally I'd love to see someone with a non-black T/A get one and have some arrangement of stripes left unpainted on the cowl portions...

When I got mine and test fitted it, I kicked myself for not having a black car, the way the weave reflected across the curves of the hood looked so good, I hated the idea of covering 90% of it.... I still have to explain to almost everyone that my hood is not just a vinyl stripe...lol...

How much of a weight savings would this be over the already very light fiberglass hood?? Not much I wouldn't think.

Waste of $$ to me. Make power, or get some suspension pieces with that money.
Just one mans opinion though. I really prefer a solid color on a car.

That is exactly what I figured. From what I've seen, a pin on fiberglass hood would way the same or even a little less than a carbon fiber hood that bolts on. So, considering that I could make one in my spare time with less than $100 in supplies that is the route I'll be taking when I have someone to help me take the stock hood off.

I believe y2kpewter has a carbon fiber hood on his SS. He did a manta stripe(I think thats what he called it) around the scoop. It looks very bad ass but cost alot.

My hood is the orginal factory SS hood, not carbon fiber. The manta stripe is painted and does cost a nice penny

O really-for some reason I thought they taped where the stripe was gonna be and when they removed the tape it left a carbon fiber stripe but I was wrong.

Yea, if you know the basics of fiberglassing it shouldn't be that hard to make one. I've been working on a jeep fiberglass hood in shop class and using my hood for the camaro as a template it should be fairly easy. I just can't get the stock hood off of it myself

And yes, I hate the black hoods on non-black cars. So many morons around here even spray paint their shitty cars hood black to make it look like carbon fiber.

what would the weight savings on a Carbon Fiber hood be... if you where to have... say... a Normal Trans Am with Sheet metal hood...or a Camaro... that doesn't have fiberglass?
