Body Repair
Not sure if this is the correct section, but I have an 02 SS and the rear has about 8-9k in damage. How hard would it b to swap an entire body from a parts car? I only have liability and I cant afford to have this body fixed. I can get a donor car for less than 2k. Thanks.

Exactly what kind of damage does the rear have? $8-$9k sounds pretty serious.

Welp, I'm going to be honest. You'd be better off just looking for another SS similar to that one and part out the damaged one. Although, if you REALLY want to save this one, you could replace the left front fender yourself. After that, a qualified collision shop with a frame straightener will have to center the rear end as it looks shifted off to the right. Both rear quarter panels need to be replaced as well as both taillights, filler panel, possibly the exhaust system and rear end/differential housing as it looks like a hard hit. Was it involved in a spinout?

Rich pretty much layed it out as good as i could. Really the body needs to be checked out by a good shop. Probably the biggest problem after that is cutting out and welding in new quarter panels. I think a replacement would be your best bet and parting out your current one

The whole principle is because I don't have the money to buy another 1. I posted this to find out how difficult it would b to replace the body in 1 fell swoop. Buy a 6cyl beater and drop that body on my chassis and swap the vin plates.

If only it was that easy. Unfortunately the frame rails and a majority of the body are one piece. Its definitely fixable but like mentioned before a good look at all the frame rails are in order as well as cutting out and welding in new quarter panels. Good luck and let us know what route you end up going with it.

The car is a uni body. The front panels r a simple bolt on and from the dash back should b able to b dropped down on top my chassis. Same process as using a Dynacorn body for the.1st gens.
