Anyone ever tried "Testors Model Master" Transparent Black Window Tint for model airplanes instead?

I have some of that and wondering if anyone has tried and/or had any luck vs. VHTNightshades.

Nevermind. I tried it and it looks great. 1/2 the price of the nightshades and I got it from a hobby store same day. Just use it like nightshades and apply small coats.

Oh man that's good. Black out your third-brake light and you'll be set!
I'd also get blacked out wheels, too.

I just did the turn signal markers and third brake light with it. I painted the top of the third brake light and the side bands with gloss black and then just did the middle light part with the transparent.

Looks really good and holding up fine. Still have some left.

I ordered the turn signal and fog light blackouts from Fbodyenhancements.com for $44 so, didn't need to do them. Also, my back honeycomb lights are black out covers.

I put like 3 coats on the side markers and third brake light so that they are pretty dark when you look at them. Let me know if you need more info and I'll pm you links etc.

    Take care,

    GUNS

So "Testors Model Master" Transparent Black Window Tint worked good? I'm trying to black out the 3rd brake light and heard really mixed reviews on the VHT niteshade

Well, Testors worked good for me. Just start with small coats and you'll see where you need more when it starts to dry. Did mine in the garage on some newspapers and it dried real quick so, didn't take very long at all.

I think it looks real good and didn't have to wait for it to come in the mail.

would you advise dong the entire tail lights and top brake light with the testors?

I need a good reliable finish. I heard some guys say to use the vht nite shade, then put a few coats of dupli-color clear over it

Negative. I would never do the entire tail light in any spray. Use black out covers from WS6store.com etc. only spray the side markers and third brake lights as there are no covers for those in existence and wouldn't look good anyways.

Get covers for the rear tail lights from some after market place like WS6store.com

Get front fog light and turn signal covers from Fbodyenhancements.com and spray the rest. You'll be much happier and it will look much more professional.

    Hope this helps,

velcro tape that leaves a nasty/sticky residue when you take them off your taillights.

Yeah, I two right side ones and it pissed me off so, I called AVS customer support about the issue and they sent me a free set. Had to put double sided tape on the right side and haven't lost it.

........now it will fly off since I said that.

I left my tail lights alone.
Blacking them out looks TOO dark to me.

NiteShades on the 3rd brake light and the side markers of mine though.

I was thinking of VHTing the side markers and the 3rd, but heard mixed about em. You didnt have any problems with them Mr. Luos?
