    Blackout Legality

Are the blackouts for the taillights and headlights legal? Or am I going to get banged for them?

    Thanks,
    Chris

i remember when i got mine the box said "for off road use only" - so thus illegal on public roads. So i would believe that they are illegal in all states.

I've been pulled over in both florida and georgia with blackouts on the taillights and the cop's did't say a word about them. I think it really just depends on the state and the officer. Its one of those things that it may be illegal but its not usually worth the cops time to pull you over for it. If you get pulled over for something else and he wants to bust your balls he could probably write you a ticket for them.

Thanks guys. I figured the headlights would be harder to get away with. There are plenty of cars around with them, but I don't want them to have a BS excuse to pull me over if I can help it.

Yeah, Here in CA they're pretty strict; especially around the Bay Area as I've found out. So I went with the tinted film for my taillights. Haven't seen too many of these around. And it still looks cool. From qhat I've heard (around here), if you can't see the different colors of the taillights in daytime, the covers are too dark. As you can see below, you can still see the red, white, and amber colors of the taillights.

Drive with my VentShade Taillight Blackouts on all the time here in PA. Had many a cop behind me and they never had a problem with them. You can still see the lights thru them - especially at night...
