    Astra-Hammond Rear Window Louvers

Does anyone have experience installing the astra-hammond / willpak industries rear window louver on their 4th gen f-body? I purchased a three piece louver (they also manufacture a one piece, but want $150 to ship it!) and attempted to install it on my 1999 Trans Am. The brackets that attach with double sided adhesive tape popped off of the windshield during installation. If anyone else has successfully installed them can you tell me how you did it without them falling off? I like the look of the louvers and this appears to be the only company that manufactures them for 4th gen cars.

I haven't installed them, never will. Don't like the look personally.

But, did you clean the window off with rubbing alcohol before putting the bracket on?

Yes I did, but due to the shape of the brackets, only a small part of the 3M tape that attaches them is actually able to make contact with the windshield. I'm hoping someone else out there has installed these and knows how to fix the problem.

Are the brackets plastic or metal?

The brackets are made of stainless steel. The louver is made of plastic.

If the brackets are metal you should be able to bend them slightly to make them fit the window better. Then you might have an easier time making it stick. Tweak them a little before you tape them down.

I will try that and see how that works. Does anyone know of any other company that makes rear window louvers for the 4th gen f-bodys? These are the only I've found.

I had a Beretta that had louvers on the rear window and the brackets were put on with clear silicone caulk.

sfxperformance is one company that sells the louvers. I bought mine on sale from another vendor that no longer has them in stock. Pictures of the installed louvers are on sfxperformance's website.

Purchased a set last year. Question, do you think double sided tape will hold when wind get under it at 75MPH? Well, it doesnt. Sent back scuffed set and got a refund.
