    Anybody done this before

The black foam piece or fire blanket-the thing on the underside of the hood. Has anybody ever removed it and kept it off? Mine is falling appart and I want to take it off but don't want to damage the paint on the outside because of engine heat. The car is a 94 formula with lt1 no ram air, just the stock hood. Please help

I've seen alot of people do that. Don't think it will affect the paint.

Mine was off when I bought the car and I haven't had any problems,I also removed it on my mustang and never had any problems with that car either.

One of the first things I took off!!

Just pull on it till it all comes down. It's only held on with plastic clips. Save those plastic clips in case you break any others when doing other mods. I've had to reuse those when taking other parts of my car apart.

The only downside to taking it off is that the underside will get dirtier faster. If you can live with that,... removed the damn thing !!
