The funny thing is that I had my Oakley eye pro on. (military type issued)
I was in a IED blast when I was wearing my Oakley eye pro and lost my left eye, but it stop a couple other fragment from coming in to take my right eye also.

Guh... man... every time I hear stories like this, I am reminded how lucky (blessed) I was on deployment. I'm glad it wasn't worse for you than it was.

my first deployment was 16 months long with no problems, then the 2nd one we just hit 9 months and that is when I got hurt. Walter Reed was really great, the Air Force medical on the C17 was top notch. I still feel blessed and even though I went through my hell, I came from rock bottom and now this is both what my wife and I do for ministry for guys dealing with PTSD, I still serve my battle buddies, because I serve with my time. I'm still a Soldier, just a Soldier for Christ now.
