You're right . Mothers is a good OTC wax but can be hard to find. Which I find alittle hard to believe...but it is.

Meguiar's is the easiest to find at any one of the big chain superstores. Good product, You really can't go wrong.

On the same breathe why don't you just order online "at just about anywhere "and get what you want....Won't be much more and you won't have to travel all around the world finding it.

If I was going to use something OTC, it would be Meguiars products. There is a lot better quality stuff even than Meguiars though.

I use the Meguires NXT tech wax and love it! Makes my car buttery smooth, especially after I clay then wax it.

If you want a quick easy on and off way to use before shows find any locl dupont or PPG store and look for a product called Butter Wax. Great show car wax but doesn't last long. We use to use it when I was contracted to do dealership cars I used it on showroom cars that didn't get wet for the best possible shine. Now if you want a good shine with a long lasting finish look for Wizards Sealant with the purple cap I use it on cars I detail since it last about 6 months under once a week washes and being out in the sun. I recommend every 4 months for max protection and shine but have gone 8 month on my DD trailblazer with the waters still beading and no loss of shine. I don't usually use auto parts store products. Meguier's makes some nice compunds for detailing but those you have to order from websites i prefer jut getting 3M or Wizards stuff from local stores since I have no patience. Guess that's why I use rotary not orbital buffers also.

    Meguairs Ultimate Compound is great.

I use Prima Finish and Prima Amigo for the finishing touches then two coats of Victoria's Concours Red wax.

Autozone should have some Mothers, like the Carnauba Cleaner Wax.

Pep Boys has about the best selection... I really like the new FX SynWax paste, and you can apply it in the sun with no problem at all and it removes easy as butter.

Clay first for best results, and I like the Mothers on that, too.

    Fixed.

And yes. Even if it comes off easily in the sun, you are basically melting the wax and lowering its efficiency.
If at all possible, ANY detailing should be done without sunlight.

I use Turtle wax super hard shell after a clay bar and buff it off. It's not the easiest to do, but it's super shinny and smooth when your done!

I have about 3 steps inbetween claybar and wax.

None of which will ever include a turtle wax product.

    In short....it is crap.
Wasn't my intent to make you feel bad...my bad on that.
I should have gone into more depth.

I was basically the same way, although all I used to do was wax my car with Meguiars. I had no idea how much better it could look with better products and a little more work.

It is probably the worst quality OTC detail product on the market. Just about anything else is better and would yield you better results and longevity. Like Luos stated and to be blunt, its garbage.

I guess I'm a noob on this, I'm 19 and this is my first car. I just spent my life savings on it, so I want it to look good. I spent hours with the meguairs clay bar and then used the turtle wax. Not to mention 5 hours on each wheel with old polishing blocks from the 80's and a buffer lol. I would buy the best wax and polish available, but I can't afford it. I drive from gas station to gas station 5$ at a time lol. I figured that turtle wax was a good name, and it's not too pricey.
