    washin your ride

hey guys i wash my car all the time like im sure most of us do but i was wonderin if your guy's tailights leaked whenever you take off and go somewhere. i get my car spotless and take it out on the main strip and pull into a parking lot and there is always a bunch of dried up water spots on the back bumper. i wipe it off just didnt know if you guys have this same problem and if there is anything to do to stop it cause it just gets old wiping it off all the time

Pop your hatch and dry the underneath and the wells beside the rear panels. I use the corner of a towel and stick it under the tail lights and I can get most all of the water out.

pop the trunk and dry out the space by the weatherstripping on the fender. the water will pool up there. i just bump the lights a couple times to vibrate the water out. it will limit the amout of waterspots on the bumper afterword. if you let it sit longer there shouldnt be any waterspots when you drive off.

Yeah, always pop the rear hatch and leave it in the full up position for about 20-30 minutes to let all the water from that spoiler drain and then wipe the channels. That will help.

Always wipe the inner hood channels and the inside of the doors and sills. Residual water from the tail light areas is normal but, if you use a leaf blower, that may help some. It did for mine. I use it mainly on my TTIIs because of the seams in the wheel where I can't wipe.

    Kinda like my ass.........lol.

yeah gm made that under hatch area unnecessarily big and i get that. maybe one day i'll block the hole to the taillights, drill another hole, and use a rubber hose to make my own little gutter to the bottom of the car behind the rear bumper. that mod would be worth it lol

Black paint the more you wipe it the faster swirl marks appear.

and water spots. Hell, I've resorted to washing it in the evening when the sun is behind the house. Gives me more time to get the water off before it starts to spot.

I wouldn't call a place where water spots reside as heaven....lol. More like pure hell trying to get them out sometimes.

After a wash, pop the trunk. And then I take a quick run around the block to get the rest out.

Do you use the leaf blower on the whole car instead of chamois?

As soon as I do my final rinse I have the blower ready and fire it up and do the whole car. It probably takes less time than drying with towel and or what ever you might use.
I always do the hood and trunk first because these are the most likely to get water spots.
It turns the large drops into very small ones quickly if you have a good wax coat and this also helps with the evil spots.

+1. Like everyone said, pop the hatch and leave it up for a few. Then a run around the block gets all the residual water loose. Use good microfiber towels and no more swirl marks. http://www.autogeek.net/mictow.html

Got the same problem before. I did the leaf blower and it fixes it. You should also try it.
