Could just be from age/wear and tear, or maybe someone used too strong of a wheel cleaner on them. Either way, if thats the case, you would have to take them to a shop and have them stripped and re-clear coated.

That, or strip the clear coat and then polish those bad boys like they were meant to be. The clear coat ruins the sheen IMO.

try a clay bar or good aluminum cleaner to get it all off, then polish, polish, polish

So if you decide to strip off the clearcoat, make sure to take care of them by keeping them clean and polished.

Yup yup, aftermarket polished aluminum rims aren't clear coat. Which is why the look a WHOLE lot better than WS6 wheels. Just keep them polished and put a sealer on em, and it'll be kewl.

Strip the clear coat off! I had a old set of rim in the same condition. Went to home depot and bought some strong paint stripper. Took a few aplications and it all came off. Did not realy need a heavy polish, wheels looked great. You wont believe the differance.
Depending on where you live and the kind of conditions the bare alum will see. It might be worth it to reclear them, or just deal with the maint. and polishing up keeop.
