Sandpaper and new paint... that's prolly the clearcoat comin off... I have the same issue... being as its the only black piece on the roof... mask everything else off and bust out some spraypaint... that's my plan...

If you go that route, they sell clear spray paint too. Hit it with a coat of clear over the black. It will last longer that way.
Post some pics when you get it done to show off your work.

Are you talking about the piece between the t-tops? If so I have one for sale. PM me.

Mine was fading on my 01 and I repainted it with a semi gloss black. That way it matched the seals on my t-tops.

Try some rubbing compound before you go the sanding/painting route. Mine has done this before and a little rubbing and buffing made it look like new.

Custom Swirly Black- 2001 WS6 M6
Mines faded as well, and since I haven't looked into and am too lazy to walk outside, is the bar easily removable?

It just screws on. I never took mine off. Just taped it up, covered everything and sprayed it.

When I took mine off it had screws and double-sided tape. Came that way from factory.
