[QUOTE=MadSeason I suggested corn starch because its been used for decades, detailers use it to get the wax off and using it with a claybar also help pick up contaminents stuck in the paints surface without harming the paint at all.[/QUOTE]

Have you tried this on your paint ??????????
I don't think I would go by what detailers did decades ago.

    Claybar.......Sure
    Corn starch ?????? Boy I would'nt...

A little late but what not...

Use a proven paint cleaner, followed by a polish to remove all of the old wax. Claying by itself will not do it. For simplicity you can use an Over The Counter product such as Meguiars or Mothers. You can do it by hand, but a porter cable buffer will do a great job at removing the wax and prepping the paint.

Once its nice and clean, then you will be ready for wax. Good luck

A little dish soap is not going to hurt your clearcoat. Does anyone have any idea how durable todays clearcoats are?? If they are strong enough to handle the sun pounding on them day after day then a bath with dish soap once a month is childs play.
I bought the Zaino kit and I was very impressed with it. If you are thinking about getting that kit plan on spending the better part of the day following all the steps and mixing their new accelerator with the polish and so forth. I just use good ol' fashion New Finish. Nothin fancy but after a good wash with a non stripping car wash and my red GTO looks perfect.

Dawn dishwashing detergent takes the old wax off...
Then go over your car with a rubbing compound...then a good polish....
finish it off with a good Carnuba Wax....
Step 1. Wash it with Dawn Dishwashing detergent.....

Step 2. Go over it with a rubbing compund...

I dont care what products....after 30+ years I have found out there isnt much difference at all between Zaino and Turtle Wax...it is all in how often and how you do the prep work.....
