    Red cars only

I have a Red trans am, some waxes make it look amazing, some leave swirls that are visable in the sun light. I used the mothers 3 phases but that takes so much time. Anyone have any tips?

I used Turtle Wax Platinum Wax. I got really good results from that and it was cheap and did not take long at all. And I used it without a buffer. I then read up on here and decided to buy some polish and went with Zaino. I have over 100k miles and the Zaino actually did make a noticeable difference. I never thought I had swirls or any light scratches because my paint is in very good shape. But this polish did make a difference. It did make the paint shine more and removed any small imperfections I did have because it does look noticeablly cleaner/sleeker

I won't talk bad about Zaino. Pretty damn good sealant and it shines as good as anything out there.

Just don't believe it provides the depth on the darker colors. Like red, black, SOM, etc....

    Thanks!
I use a 3-4 step process depending on what the car needs at the time. Next time around, it may be 5 steps as it has been sitting outside for most of the winter.
    1. Menzerna SIP or Prima Swirl(portercable)
    2. Prima Finish (portercable)
    3. Prima Amigo (portercable)
    4. Victoria's Concours Red wax (by hand)

The picture is an HDR. So it is 3 different exposures blended into one to produce a 'surreal' type image.
This is the original....nothing done to it.

    Once every 3-4 months.

With two coats of wax inbetween. Done properly, you use VERY little product.

There are a lot of options out there for waxing your car. Like Luos said, don't use mothers or turtle wax. I used to, and they are pretty crappy. You'll get a good shine from them, but the protection doesn't last very long. Almost like you have to do the whole thing at least twice a month.

If you want to use something a little cheaper than the prima stuff, I would use meguiars. Here's my results:
    Used Meguiars and wow!!!

I did this back in september and it still has decent protection on it. Of course I also haven't done it since because it seems to rain a little every week or two during "winter" here.

Oh yeah, the Meguiars is also made for Darker vehicles.

actually thats what i mean that i use, meguiars, not mothers. meguiars 3 step. but i will stand by the turtle wax ice. i really like it it. its completly different than the original hard wax. im not saying that i like it so much that it would prevent me from trying something better.

i do use the mothers power ball and chrome polish though, and i really like that.

    i usually go:

    1. 3m rubbing compund (buffer)
    http://www.shop3m.com/60455030209.html

    2. meguiars paint cleaner (buffer)

    3. meguiars polish (by hand)

    4. turtle wax ice (by hand)

one of my good friends does it for me, he used to deatil cars for a dealership and this is what he recomended. my results are night and day difference. if you guys think something else might work better id be willing to try it.

If you must use stuff from CSK/VatoZone/Advance.....
    Use Meguiars NXT 2.0.

The Prima stuff isn't much more expensive, and lasts longer. Protection wise, and how long a bottle lasts.
