Question Paging Dr Goose, Dr Goose to the detail bay....

Ok, I have a question to see if I am screwing up:

95% of the time, my car sits covered under a carport. (And it is a dusty area too) When I drive it, and it gets just a lil dusty or a few bugs on the bumper or windshield, I will go to a self serve car wash, rinse the car with clean water, then follow up with the "spot free" rinse, followed by a good waffle weave dry down.

Is this an acceptable procedure to keep my car clean since it is clean most of the time or should I hand wash it every time?

My concern is not causing fine scratches, give it to me straight Doc, I can take it
    Regards,
    Todd

    Hehe Doc?!!
I think you're doing it right. I would restrain myself from hitting it too hard with the high pressure rinse
Following it with the spot free rinse using the "sheeting" technique will reduce the chances for water spots, and of course waffle weave wipe down
There are some products like Prima Hydro that are designed to spray-on "wax as you dry" type product that will help with lubricity and avoid drag marks, or micro-marring...
You could also spritz a small amount of a good QD (quick detailer) to help this way as well...
