keeping windshield clean

my 97 have a lot of scratches in it. At night if you meet a car it will almost blind you. It seems to always have some type of haze on it too. What do you guys use on yours ??Should I just get a new one??

Are you having problems due to the scratches on the outside of the windshield or some kind of haze on the inside.......??

yes to both. I know the haze may have something to do with running the defroster , but I was wondering what is a good cleaner for it . I use windex and it stil dont get it clean or it dont stay clean ....like 3 days

Believe it or not, I have used car polish on my front window. Then just buff it out. It really helps hide some of the imperfections.

I'd try a glass polish on the outside. If it's sandblasted it may not help much but worth a try.....

Are you using anything on your dash...???
I don't for this very reason....

As long is the window is as clean as you can get it, then there should be no glare. Try it, at least do one half of the window and compare to the other side.

I try not to use anything on the dash , but it is hard to get it out if the person before I had it did

From other people not seeing them or helping you see at nite ???

I had a car with a windshield like that. Only thing that worked was Bon Amey, its a no scratche clenser. I would try it on a small area first.

Use a compound like Sctratch X from Meguiard inside and outside (dentifirce ot peanut butter work also). Clean it with a mix 50% vinegar/50% water. Apply one coat of polish/wax inside and outside. Apply more coats of polish/wax as needed. If it don't work, you need to change your windshield.

If it helps any I am extremely anal about having clear / clean glass. I use mineral spirits to clean off the heaver stuff that stays behind when you use normal cleaners. I am also a heavy smoker so I get a film in the inside very quickly but the spirits cuts threw it very well then I follow up with Stoners window cleaner (you can get it at wall-mart for about a buck) this gets rid of any left over streaks or deposits and leaves them absolutely clear its like there is no glass in font of me.

Is it possible to have the glass resurfaced or wothwhile to use a claybar? Is it cost effective for the resurfacing? Or just buy a new one?

Mine has scratches and I can feel some "ruff" spots at the top. Only noticable when I clean the windsheild and apply Rain-ex (because of the shine).

Well, sorry about my english. I am far better in French. Instead of dentifrice, you should read toothpaste. And peanut butter is...well peanut butter. Anyway, they are cheap and contain fine abrasives that will remove all dirt. They are also very effective to remove dry wax on black plastic trims (like on t-tops).

A good glass/windshield shop should be able to buff out the scratches on the outside of your windshield (like typical wiper scratches). For the inside, I use Stoner's glass cleaner - removes haze/film completely and doesn't streak! Best glass cleaner I've ever used. As for inside haze on the windows, I used to use ArmorAll on my other cars' interiors until I found out that it creates a haze on the windows that's hard to remove completely streak-free.

I still have the original ones but the car has only 24K miles and I don't usually drive when it's raining. They are still working as new ones. Funny fact, after 5 years, it is still the original windshield washer fluid in the tank.
