How much $$ for a professional buff job?

I got a black car and the paint is starting to get pretty rough on it. Few scratches here and there. How much would I be looking for a professional (paint only) detailing job?....like a complete buffing and everything. I went to one shop and the guy said like $100 and I went to another shop owned by a lady who seemed like she knew more what she was talking about and she said about $175-$200. She said that would be like 4 complete passes with the high speed buffer.

got a ballpark of $95 for wash, buff, and wax. It was an older dude with a professional detailing shop. He said hes been in the business over 30 years. He really looked my whole car over good and sounded like he knew his stuff. Should I be worried at that price??

if he's working out of a place attached to his house, and seemed to know his stuff-then it's a hobby and he probably takes a lot of pride in it, but enjoys it so much that he doesn't charge alot.

ask for car pix if they have them. I took mine to a body shop who i've done a lot of business with and he charged me 200 for wash, wetsand, buff and wax.

That's about right Jason. For Black on a car the size of the TA I would charge $ 250 all day long and get it every time. But people round here know my work. I usually can show them a sample spot and they are like "DAYYYUM"!

Sounds like he will just slap some wax on and buff it for that price but there are many steps to a proper buff job. Ask him if he just waxes after washing or if he deoxidizes it properly to remove old wax, tree sap, tar and bugs first. Big difference! Remember you get what you pay for, spend the extra cash to get it done properly.
