    how to clean tires for new tire shine

    What can be used to clean off all the old tire shine to get a fresh start?

    Dawn perhaps?

    I've used a tire cleaner I bought from Autozone or someplace. Can't remember the name of it but, it says Tire Cleaner and not shine.

    That worked pretty good for me to get everything off and leave nothing but, bare rubber.

    that would be a good one too. Never thought of that one. I always forget about simple green for anything other that the hood interior and motor areas.

    I have used meguiars nxt tire cleaner befre. It worked pretty good. Lately I have been using car wash soap and a brush.

    Every wash i use "purple power" just a cheap degreaser i picked up from walmart, spray it on and just rub with an old shop towel and it will clean it all away...
    Then apply your new tire shine i use Meguier's tire shine..

    Use a meguiars Gold Class Endurance Kit. Your tires will look natural black clean look. Not all greesy and super shinny. thats my experience.

    There are a lot of tire cleaners, but you have to be careful with them not damaging your wheels
    Just soap water, or diluted Simple Green and a scrub will work fine
