Help from you detailing gurus.
I know the subject is old but I have searched and cannot find exactly what I want to know.
I just bought the Meguiar's Claybar kit and it comes with some quik wax. Is this all I need to use after claying it or do I need to buy some different kind of wax.
I have washed tons of cars in my years but was always nervous to wax. I finally said to hell with it and got the clay kit and need to know if I need more or different wax after I clay it so do not waste the money I already spent.
Plus I want to have all I need with me before I start the job.

i'm not familiar w/ what comes in the mequiars kit, but i'd be fairly comfortable with what they included, based on their reputation - basically, see if says carnauba wax on the container, ..if it carnauba, that's the good kinds for car paint..

It is a bottle of their Ultimate Quik Wax. It is a spray so I did not know if it was good enough or if I needed an actual wax to make sure it is done right.

It's a tiny bottle and it basically depends on if you prefer a liquid or a paste wax. I've have the kit but use my paste wax because I'm more familiar with it. I use both the gold class and the NXT tech.
It should be fine to use after claying though. You can always use a paste wax later on if you're not satisfied with the outcome.
Do a test spot and see if you like it.
I'm sure one of our detailer's will have more info for you though.

I believe the idea is to use a good base wax of your choice after you get done clay barring your whole car!! The clay bar removes all the dirt from the paints' pores which also opens it up for more dirt unless you use a good quality carnuba based wax, which you have to provide yourself!

Ya a small spray bottle of wax. I want to do it right and want to have it all here so when I start do not have to stop to go get the right stuff.

The spray bottle is what you want to use while claying. As a lubricant. It's the Quick Detail spray.
I'm talking about a little bottle of liquid wax that came in the kit I bought. I've never used it.

This is what came in the kit I bought. That little bottle of wax is what I was referring to. I've never used it. I always use paste wax.
But yes, after claying the car, (using the spray detailer) you'll want to put a nice fresh coat of wax on it

Mine came with the detail spray but also a bottle of this. It is a 12 ounce bottle.

This is what I was asking if it was decent wax or should I get a different kind.

Like I said. I never used it. I use the paste wax. But, Meguiar's seems to think that it's appropriate to use after the clay bar.
So, I'm sure it's fine and you can also put on a coat of paste wax later on if you want to.

No need for any special wax after the clay bar. NXT is good stuff, its what i mainly use. If your car is a daily driver i would suggest looking into some sealer rather than wax. Sealer protects for a longer period of time and acts like a shell over the paint, then you can throw whatever wax you prefer on top of it. My .02

No problem, just make sure you read what all the product does. The klass I use isn't recommended for polishedwheels, which is why I'm trying rejex

Thw cleaner wax is just that. A cleaner wax designed to remove haziness. It's actually good stuff, you'll be surprised how it brings the lost gloss out of your paint.
You can use it after the clay bar.
As for sealants, try Liquid Glass available at Advance Autoparts, and Pep Boys may also have itLast edited by Z06-Goose; 05-24-2011 at 09:17 PM.

I guess that the next time I clay my car, I'll use that little bottle of cleaner wax then

cleaner wax is tougher to buff out.. personally, if you're gonna claybar it first, i'd just follow up w/ some regular liquid wax from mequires/mothers, or similar...
