Question Getting water spots off windows?

I had to do this on my old Mustang. I have to do it again on this one. I'd really like to find a better product out there if there is one. I forget the name (I'm at work), but I use steel wool & this white liquid stuff. I had to use a lot of elbow grease & ended up with marks on the windows even though I used the finest steel wool out there.

So what products are on the market to remove waterspots? These bitches are baked on!

Yea, you really have to be careful w/ 0000, even if it is relatively safe. The only glass I will use it on is the windshield. I've tested it on other glass and it easily scratched it.

To help w/ your question; You can try some CLR and even Rust Stain Remover! Just be careful w/ them and try to avoid getting any on your paint

I tried CLR before & it didn't help

You could use a little bit of white vinegar. You need to apply it on a small rag, and let it sit on the spot
Normally, you always want to remove water spots -being on the paint or on glass- by dissolving it chemically; that way even if it doesn't completely remove it, you will have at least a smaller are to work with with a more abrasive method

Whatever you use, allow the product to do its work. Let it soak
If the water spots are etched on the glass, then removing it via abrasive method may only be your only option
Try some Cerium Oxide to polish it with. Cerium Oxide is what is used in the industry to polish and repair glass
Do a search on google for: cerium oxide or try janvil.com

The water and vinegar works. Then wax the windows with a glaze to seal them up it will also fill any fine scratches.
Once you have glazed the widows the water will bead and you won't get those spots.

Go to AutoZone and buy some Meguiars #7 Show Car Glaze. This shit is awsome to say the least. It's a pure polish. Most know the California liquid SuperGlaze but it is far in superior to the #7.
I would follow it up with the #26 wax

Yes I use this on glass for years! Weather it's a $500,000 Porsche or my daily driver.

When i worked at a Kia dealership what we did was get a type of liquid acid... not the really big acid but safe acid stuff then a light steel wool and we sprayed the window nicely with the acid... it was a acid/water mixed i think 50/50... and then buff out the watermarks... kind of thing... it worked for my camaro..

    GULLETT17,

I deleted both your posts because they included direct links to non sponsors. If you want to mention a product that is in competition with one of our sponsors, thats fine, you just can't publicly provide a direct link to it. You may use the PM option to communicate the link with someone however. Zaino is not the only site sponsor for detailing products either.

I'm going to try that rust stain stuff as I picked it up last night. I also have cerium oxide on the way in case that fails.

If nothing else works, this has worked for me. "Etched" waterspots. This stuff took them off.
