Navy Blue Metallic- 98 Camaro Z28
Extensive correction on black Camaro Z28
This customer dropped his car off to me along with his friend's Trans Am, both for extensive swirl removal. The camaro had just received a new set of hockey stripes so special care was needed during the course of the detail. The rest of the car had numerous problem areas that needed to be sorted out. There was heavy oxidation on the rear spoiler and ground effects, severe swirls throughout, heavy rotary buffer trails on doors, and numerous holograms on the hood. Correction was done with LC orange and M105 then LC white with Menz SIP. All issues were sorted out over the course of the 2-day detail.
It was a busy week and due to time constraints I had to wash it at night, in the rain... The car isn't soaking wet from me spraying it down, its just from 2 minutes of rain. It was POURING down!
After finishing the wash it was clayed to remove heavy contimination (wiped out a brand new bar), then dried and now you can see the true condition of the paint and the severity of the swirls and scratches...
You can see scuff marks here side-to-side from the application process of the stripes
Heavy swirls from a rotary and wool pad by someone uneducated in proper paint correction

After multiple IPA wipedowns, a coat of Blackfire Wet Diamond was applied and allowed to cure overnight. The next morning it was removed and finished pics were taken. It was overcast, so no sun pics unfortunately.
Thanks for lookin!

Man you couldn't pay me enough to want to work on that car. I don't see how people let them get that bad.

Any way you could do a writeup on how to do this? My WS6 isn't nearly that bad, but it's got swirl marks in places and what appears to be light scratches from neighborhood cats that like to perch on my car.

WOW!! I didn't think the paint could be saved, but you did one hell of a job.

You can learn alot on detailing forums like Autogeek. For around $300-400 you can buy most everything you need to get started. A porter cable 7424 buffer, the proper foam pads (Lake Country are really good), some good microfiber towels, quality car wash and a wash mitt, and a quality swirl remover which needs to be followed with a quality finishing polish. Then after it's all done you will need a quality carnuba wax or sealant. This is just the bare minimum. Using the correct method to wash your car can help prevent swirls from coming back.
Or you can do what alot of people do and buy a polish with fillers in them to hide swirls etc. but they don't last long and never leave your car looking it's best. This results in polishing your car repeatedly to hide imperfections instead of doing it the right way.
For 20 years I thought I knew how to detail my vehicles properly but after learning on the forums and from a guy here named Goose- I was clueless! Good luck. It's really worth it to learn and do it yourself.
