cost for a new paint job?

Anyone know what it cost to get a brand new paint job the whole nine yards when it comes down to it for a 98 to 02 f-body?

1500 MINIMUM for a decent job....ask around. You get what you pay for. NO MACCO.

I got priced from a friend for the required sanding, primer, paint, and 4 to 5 clear coats for $2500. And I know it'd be perfect cause he's the most anal person I've ever met when it comes to details

It really depends on a lot of factors. The main factors are:

    1. If there are any body damage. Even the smallest things usually take at least 45 minutes to properly repair to be painted. Using a dolly to get it back in place, body filler, cheese grader, more body filler, sanding, grinding around the dinged up area, and a final sand for the primer. I probably missed a step.

    2. If you're getting it the same color or not. A new color will cost more, as there will actually be more to paint and be a lot more trouble to paint getting the inside of the car done that you don't actually see from the outside.

    My life is a
    Ben Stiller movie.

i've been quoted about 7000 to re-color the car, and i've been quoted 3-5k for repainting the same color

You know, it sucks, I wish I had a place to do body work. I've been certified to do all aspects of body work, but I like doing just the filler work and painting, screw the frame pulling and interior. Because I'd give you guys all the best pricing, and hell, even fix my car. As far as the cost. Like the above stated, it all depends on where you go, who you talk to, what you need done, re color, whatever. Some cars we had come in just needed re cleared, silly yes, but made a hell of a differenece. Also it depends on if you need all your edges cut in, like the insides of your doors ect. Many factors to look at, but for a good paint job, I wouldn't expect to pay any less than 3k from a reputable body shop.
