    Cleaning inside of rims

I just polished my calipers so my wheels are off the car. No better time to clean the inside of them then now. What is the best thing to use to get back to the rim instead of all the dirt/grime. I was using bleechwhite with some success but im looking for better. Any ideas? It needs to be something strong.

bleachwhite worked fine for me. A stiff brush def helps too. I had a few years of "cakeage" that needed some hard scrubbing

I was gonna try some engine degreaser but didnt know if thats something I wanted to be spraying on my rims or not. Ill have to try the simple green, the bleachwhite wasnt cutting it.

They are the stock rims, so I would assume so im not sure. I take it if they are its ok to spray degreaser on em? and just polish them afterwards?

simple green should work and i used a bug rag to clean them with the simple green, just make sure to keep the finished side wet so no chemicals dry on them.

Anyone delt with firehawk wheels, on the outside they are very good, however, closer look at the inside is crazy pitting, looks like a virus, its so bad..thought about wire wheeling the inside and then spraying it with clear coat, anyone have suggestions? Its a 2002, do you think it might be covered under some appearance waranty?

    My life is a
    Ben Stiller movie.

you know, i did that with my 00 ws.6 rims. I scrubbed most of the lite stuff off with a brush and soap. Then i used a drill with a wire brush and used that to strip all the rest of it. Looked decent afterward, but 90k miles of shit and only about the last 35k worth came off ohwell.

Eagle 1 All Wheel and Tire Cleaner

    Looks like this:

It works excellent - cleans off brake dust, dirt, grease off wheels like nothing, and won't harm clearcoat. My brake dust stained wheel brush looks like new after using it with the Eagle 1

Have you tried the Meguiar's gold class all wheel cleaner? I use this often on my chrome wheels, and it works well.

Do NOT use Castrol Super Clean, you may mess up the finish on the rim. If you ever want paint off something, spray some on the item, let set a few minutes, and rinse it off. Paint's gone.

Thats what I use everytime I wash my car, I think that is what works the best. But the stuff on the inside is so caked on it didnt get everything I was looking for. Thing that worked the best was a pressure washer, it gave me the best results. Still not as clean as I want em, but a hell of a lot better.

I used an SOS pad on the inside. A putty knife to get the occasional asphalt rock out. Did ok. At least you can see the tiny grooves. On the outside I use Meguire's Hot Rims.

If your wheels are very dirty just get a spray can of carb and choke cleaner, spray it on a rag NOT the rim and start wiping it will work. You will need a few rags that you do not care about, because you will tossing them in the trash. Then use some soap and water to clean the rim. Then wax or polish the rim. There you are all done.I did this and it will do the job.
