Cleaned half my bay, simple green + cd2 results

Ok. This was my first time cleaning the bay. I used simple green + cd2 on it. I cleaned the left half only so you can see the difference. These shots were taken at dawn with a flash so they're not the best, but you can get an idea.

Do you think it's a big improvement? I'm not finished with the left (missed some spots as you can see), but this is what I have from spending an hour or so on it:

CD2 is an engine detailer. You just spray it on and let it dry for about 20 minutes.

when you guys clean the bay do you pretty much hit everything with water or do you clean off mostly by hand? I'm afraid and fucking up some electronics

I spray simple green (diluted 1:1) and wipe it by hand, then finish with a spray water bottle. I heard some people take a hose to it but that's too risky for me. I pretty much hit everything except exposed wires, intake, pulleys, and fuse boxes.

After that's done I cover everything in cd2 and wait for it to dry. Then I will hit that again with a dry towel and more cd2 (if necessary) to smooth any blotches. Sometimes when it dries it leaves little stains.

I pretty much wrote the exact steps that I did above.

You should be able to find CD2 at any auto shop. I got mine at autozone. There's instructions on the can. It says you're supposed to spray it on, let it dry, and that's it. I, however, went back with a towel the following day to smooth out any blotches that were left.

I tried using a toothbrush for the hard spots but some are really tough to get to. Any advice?

Ya simple green is a little pricey,,,,unfortunately biodegradable products aren't cheap.

It's what I've used though for years. Cleans off grease well and even brings some of the brightness back in aluminum.
I've always sprayed it down with a garden hose on light pressure and never had a problem though.

Never used the CD2 though. Most of that engine detail in a can leaves behind a residue that attracts dust. One trip down the road and the engine looks like crap again. Not very good on chrome parts either.

did you use a mix of water and the simple green when you did the engine compartment.....maybe someone else can chime in but I heard that cd2 doesn't collect dust like the rest..........

I haven't had any problems at all after I used CD2 on my bay and I have driven it plenty. It actually looks better now than it did before in that picture.

did you just wipe it down with a mix of simple green and water and then cd2 it? did you use the hose on it at all, or did you just wipe the cd2 off after applying it?
