    Car Covers

I am not sure if this was the right section to put this in.

Has anyone bought a car cover off Ebay like this one:

17 Layer Car Cover Waterproof Layers Outdoor Indoor Fleece Lining SET17 | eBay

I know it is not custom fitted but i am just looking for something that will keep the car clean between washes. Eventually it will be garaged during the winter months so I don't really need something that will stand up to that type of weather.

Thanks in advanced for you reviews!

    Chris

Good lord, that is a cheap price. I have shopped covers for our cars and although I haven't yet pulled the trigger on a set, that price is about what I would expect to pay for a simple nylon dust cover.

Just for fun, I Googled "The Cover Factory" and received hits like this: Ripoff Report | The Cover Factory Store Complaint Review Internet: 700483

    I think I would pass.

Thanks for that!. I never thought to do a search for the sellers name. I need to remember to that next time I am looking at questionable eBay crap.

If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

Covercraft is a reputable company that makes nice stuff.

I have a covercraft and it's pretty nice. They make everything from simple indoor ones to deluxe outdoor ones. Plus they are fitted to the car. It takes a very gusty storm to move mine. They can get kind of pricey for the higher end lines.

I bought my cover from California Car Covers. I've had it for more than a decade and have no issues with it. The cover fits extremely well also. Can't recall what I paid for it, but worth looking into.
    It's on jackstands.

Glad to assist. Curious as to what you end up getting and how you like it.

You can't go wrong with Cover Craft or California Car Covers.

that honestly is the best thing to do in my opinion...a car cover on a car that stays outside can actually damage the paint over time because wind will blow dust and dirt under the cover and the cover will rub that in to your paint.

Dust covers for inside a garage are awesome, but covering a car outside definitely has its down sides.

Do you guys use car covers even with your cars parked in the garage?

I would if I had one for dust build up.

I don't have one on my car and it stays in the garage all the time. It's got some silt dust on it from all of the homes being built around me. I simply pack it out into the driveway and rinse it off, pull back in and dry.

I used to, but it got to be a pain in the ass putting it on and taking it off all the time so I just wash it when it gets dusty now. I also have the California Duster.

I pretty much do the same except I usually always wash it by hand with the 2 bucket method, and plush microfibers. And being as I do it so cautiously and detailed it takes awhile to do. I figured a cover would lessen the dust settle and I could take a microfiber cloth over the body to pick up remaining dust particles.

I have considered the lightweight nylon covers for indoor storage.

I would recommend against covering up a dark colored car even if its only a dust cover and the car stays inside most of the time...dark colors show scratches and swirls way too easily. Just my opinion...

I am a fan of keeping them covered if for any length of time as you wont have to wash it when you do get it out. I keep my car covered all year inside but I only get my car out for a few days a year as its on the other side of the country from where I live.
