I used to have a black turbo Buick Regal with crazed paint on the hood from turbo heat. I used Turtle wax vinyl top wax on the hood. Wax was black and would fill all the marks on the hood. Seemed to work the same as regular car wax. All the crazing would disappear. I suspect it would be good for hiding a lot of things in black paint.

I use a wax called Black Velvet and it helps with scratches. Before the scratches would look 10x as bad because the white wax would make them stand out. You can get it here http://www.topoftheline.com/

You should try Pinnacle swirl remover first and then waxing with this wax. I had some deep scratches that are gone untill you put your face 3 ft from the car.

Wax doesn't cover up swirls. Wax protects and aids in shine.

To remove those swirls you need a good polish and a portercable.
I am sure once Z06-Goose finds this thread he will let you know which polish.

Getting ready to go crazy on my black car.
Going to strip any wax off it and start fresh. Clay, polish, glaze, 2 coats of wax.

Anything "wax" works better on a well-prepped surface, and while some do a good job filling-in swirls, the benefits are often short-lived
I would recommend trying something like 3M Imperial Hand Glaze (3M IHG) you can get at any Napa store. It will work great by hand, and actually reduce minor swirls, while also having fill-in abilities

PS: I haven't used the Black Velvet Wax, so I can't really comment on it
They do claim it covers swirls and scratches, so to some degree I would tend to believe it probably does...

What it actually does is hide the scratches by filling them in with black wax instead of white wax(which makes scratches on a black car look more noticable). I had some deep scratches on my car from the previous owner and you have to put your face really close to see em now. I did use a swirl remover with a porter cable buffer before I applied the wax but when I first got the wax I used it straight up with no preparation and was pretty damn pleased. Believe me-this shit works a hell of alot better then the turtle wax version. The only down side (like said above) is that it is short lived unless you use a swirl remover before applying the wax. o-by the way you could see the scratches on my car from 10 feet away before I did the above steps to it. I was ready to repaint-thats how bad it was.

Look how shitty my headlights look. I am breakin down and buyin new- I renig on my previous statements about plastex cause it doesnt last.

This was the last time we did it. No clay, no polish.

Red Moose glaze and Victoria's Concours Wax.

I really love that car. That one picture I saw a while back of it parked sideways in front of that mountain!!! damn sweet!!! After you take off the wax, clay bar, polish, glaze. and then wax it again you should take it back out in front of that mountain again if you can for new pics!!(not that the old are bad) That background with your car in front of it just looks like it should be a poster.

    Thanks.

It is about an hour drive to get to that location.
I will be up there sometime this summer once I have some time I can take off work. I will work a half day and then head up there.

You prolly already know this but use very thin layers. That wax goes a long way. When I first started using it I put it on way too thick which makes it harder to remove and wastes it. Very thin coats is key. Hope you like it. Besides everything else its nice to not have that white residue from regular wax.
