I use Blue Coral, a microfiber wash mitt that has a soft sponge in the center (don't know how else to describe it), and both a wash and rinse bucket.

    Much like the Absorber.
    Why Not?
What problems are there with a California duster?

Most people that use them have no problems.

I just won't use it. I have my own methods.

    My 2cents

I recently purchased a vehicle with a black hood.
It looked like the previous owner buffed it with 80 grit sandpaper.

I like Zaino and I used AIO, Z5 and Z2.
Zaino give a great shine but it just made the existing swirl marks very shiny.

I used a Porter Cable 7424XP with Glare Microfinish, Spider Remover and then Glare Polish. I have used Glare Polish for years. The swirl marks are gone and I know they will now stay gone.

I just recently tried Collinite Insulator wax (#845) and Marque D'Elegance (No. 915). I found GREAT results and a wonderful shine.

The PC DA is very SAFE and thus not aggressive, so it took me longer to obtain the needed results. It looks like a rolling black mirror now and not a swirl mark to be found.

    I love my PC.

I use Menzerna and Prima for polishes and a few different sealants/wax.
Lately the car has been sitting outside so I use a sealant on it, but when it has a garage I use Victoria's Concours Red wax.

Get a Flex DA polisher. A must for a black car.

How frequently are you guys doing the major on your cars? Once a year? Twice? Ours is garage kept and driven only in good weather - maybe 1,500 miles total in a year. The plan is to order up some of the good stuff recommended in this thread and start at it sometime this fall.

Depends on when it needs it.

Right now, 2-3 times a year. Sealant 4-5 times a year.
When garage kept, it would only need wax for 2 years at a time.

Can you explain the difference between a sealant and a wax? Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I honestly do not know.

Sealant will last much longer, but more than likely not give you the shine/depth that a good wax will.
5 to 6 months is about average for a sealant.
A wax may last a month or two.

DO NOT use that turtle wax shit.
If you must get something from vatozone, go with Meguiars.

The thing about the cali duster- you must let it sit- dust mop side down- on clean paper for two days. It makes a huge difference.

I prefer Prima slick quick detailer though.
