When I took my decals off my bike I used a hair dryer to warm up the decals and a small bondo spreader to take them off.

heat is a must, you can usually use your fingernail to get them off, and a little oops or goo gone to remove the left over glue.

My ram air stickers were in bad shape too. Before you start, put down masking tape to mark the exact location of the old stickers. I would use a heat gun or hair dryer and just pull them off with your fingers. Clean and let dry before you put the new ones on.

I used wd40 and my finger nail. I also use tape to mark the spot.

Just a tip for when you remove decals or stickers, a cheap and chemical free product to remove the adhesive is Eucalyptus oil. Its from an australia tree and works well. There is also a website that has two products designed to remove decals and stickers (the site is www.decalstickerremover.com)
