WTF with my headlights
sup guys i have a problem with my headlights on my 99 trans am, now when i hit my unlock or lock on my remote or in car my headlights pop up, but the lights dont come on then they go back down and my driverside motor wines for like 30 seconds. im going to check my connections b/c it did not do this till i jumped a curb backing out of the driveway just a second ago but if this has happened to you was it connections or something else?

you can also flip the wheel in the motor around because it only uses half of the teeth that's what i did and still working !!!

He did an edit and said he got it- loose connection... but I've had to do the flip thing to both mine , a year apart, wondering how long that will work before I have to get the brass ones...

Does the new gm motor have the same plastic wheel or did they upgrade to brass in the newer ones?

I can't confirm, but I'm pretty sure GM never provided Firebird headlight actuator motors with the metal drive gears.
I've had a few 4gen Firebirds and about half of them have ended up needing the metal gears put in. It's a pain to do, but once I've done it, I never have probs with them again. I actually just got done putting the metal gears into my current 99 TA... keeping fingers crossed for luck

What's the difference between the brass and the metal ones, or are we describing the same ones?

both I know of are metal. bfranker's are aluminum, I just installed a set in my 99 TA. Rodney D's are brass... IMHO they are a slightly better deal since they come with new little rubber bumpers in them. bfranker's design has no bumpers at all... I think that's a little risky and next time, I might get a set from Rodney.
